TCA is now accepting applications for its 2014 Washington Summer Internship Program. The program offers Turkish American undergraduate and graduate students internship opportunities with prestigious Congressional offices and nonprofit and non-governmental organizations. Delegation Led by Chairman of Main Opposition Party in Turkey (CHP) Visits TCA DC Office

On December 2, TCA hosted Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and a delegation of CHP representatives at a reception on Capitol Hill with the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on U.S.-Turkey Relations and Turkish-Americans. The CHP delegation visited Washington, DC for a series of meetings with officials from the White House and State Department, Members of Congress, and with the Turkish-American community. The five-day visit was the first time in 37 years that a CHP Chairman travelled to the U.S. on an official visit. AA Interviews TCA President Turkish Grant to Native Americans

On December 12, TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy gave an interview to Anadolu Agency (AA) expressing that Turkey's donation of  $200,000 to provide potable water to around five thousand American-Indians living in the Warm Springs regions of Oregon is welcomed by the US Congress. The grant award, facilitated by the TCA, was donated by the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA) whose mission is to contribute to poverty eradication and sustainable development in partner countries. TCA President Delivers Lecture on American Political System at Bahcesehir University

On December 10, TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy delivered a lecture on the U.S. political system at Bahceshir University's Ankara campus. The lecture was given to political science graduate students.

Ahmet Ertegun's Legacy Remembered

Marking the seventh anniversary of the death of music pioneer Ahmet Ertegun, Peter Brown, a former member of the Beatles core management, reflects on his friend's legacy in article published in The Daily Beast on December 12. The article serves as a reminder of Ertegun's legacy as founder of Atlantic Records and reflects how the diversity of his home country Turkey was mirrored in his efforts to improve race relations in America. To read the article in full, please click here.

TCA Awards Study Abroad Scholarships to American Minority Students

In December, TCA Awarded five Study Abroad scholarships to students of African American, Hispanic American and Native American heritage. The students who received TCA scholarships and will study in Turkey come from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Depaul University, Claremont McKenna College, Syracuse University and Emory University. The total number of TCA Study Abroad in Turkey Scholarships awarded to American minority students has now reached 320 since the program's inception in 2008.

Meanwhile, TCA Scholarship recipients Morgan Sandoval, Victoria Murriela, Niana Moone, Madeleine Herr and Lucille Alexander who are currently studying at Koc and Bahcesehir universities in Istanbul visited the TCA Istanbul office and met with TCA Turkey Representative Basak Kizildemir to learn more about the work of TCA and its sister organization, the Turkish Cultural Foundation.
